Mariko Aikawa took up botanical painting in 2004, following a career as a translator / interpreter at an Embassy in Tokyo. She became a Fellow of the Society of Botanical Artists (SBA), UK in 2009 and exhibited with them on numerous occasions.

Tillandsia_1 ティランジア
Tillandsias offer endless fascination. I admire their bodies with rich cinereous trichomes as if frosted. The living way up in the air without rooting in soil is also stunning. Flowering is their final moment of glory.
